It was just the luck of the draw that put perennial boys bowling state contender Apopka and defending state champ Leesburg on the same pair of lanes for the fourth and final game of qualifying in the FHSAA state tournament at Orlando's Boardwalk Bowl on Wednesday. The tension of a marquee matchup seemed to benefit both sides as the Blue Darters and the Yellow Jackets stayed alive going into Thursday's third and final day of the Florida High School Athletic Association championship event.[ It was easy to predict that Apopka would be in the running for another state title ]Apopka's five bowlers toppled 1,007 pins in the pairing with Leesburg to complete a monster 4,407 four-game total that started with sets of 1,165 and 1,174.
