In Florida's House district 39 race, which centers on Apopka and northwest Orange County, Apopka City Commissioner and Republican Doug Bankson is running against Democrat and former NAACP Orange County president Tiffany Hughes.Both candidates run their own businesses and say they support small business growth within their district, which after redistricting this year now runs along the western Orange and Lake County border and includes Apopka and most of the neighborhoods around Lake Apopka, Lake Brantley and Bear Lake.
